B.C. SQUARE & ROUND DANCE FEDERATION

CLASS OF 2010 CONTEST RULES

1.  The Contest is open to all BCS&RD Federation member Square and / or Round Dance Class hosting clubs whose membership dues have been paid up for the 2009 / 2010 dance season. To enter, the Host club must also have been a member of the BCS&RD Federation for at least one season prior to the 2009 / 2010 season.

2.  The Contest entry form must be filled out in its entirety to be eligible to win. The Federation Executive will use the information collected to study recruitment practises and success rates in order to develop better ways to promote our activities and we will share our findings with the Square and Round Dance community.

3. An eligible class is either a square or round dance class whose members are first time square or round dancers and are not already members of the Federation. This is not to say that you can’t have angels in your class or dancers who already square or round dance. For the purpose of this contest, only brand new dancers are to be counted on the entry form. As well, an eligible class is one which extends over a sufficient period of time that the next step for the dancer would be to join the Host club at what ever level of dance he or she has achieved.

4.  Contest winners will be chosen by the number of new dancers who finish the class in proportion to the existing club membership at the beginning of the season, the largest percentage taking First Place. In the event of a tie, the innovativeness of each club’s recruiting practises will be considered by the Judges.

5.  The Judging Committee, appointed by the Federation Executive, will choose the winners at their discretion and their decisions will be final.

6.  Said Committee has the right to audit a club’s records if deemed necessary, before awarding any prizes.
